About the Agency: The Office of the Secretary of State is dedicated to being both a service and information agency. There are eight divisions of the Secretary of State's Office: Business Services & Regulation, Charities, Elections, External Affairs, Policy & Research, Publications, Public Lands and Securities. In addition, the agency employs executive and administrative staff which help oversee the various functions of the office.
About the Position: This position is responsible for providing advanced customer service and administrative support within the Business Services Division of the Mississippi Secretary of State. Duties include assisting customers by telephone, email, written correspondence, and in person regarding business entity filings, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) records, and other corporate documents.The incumbent reviews and processes documents submitted for filing, examines records for completeness and compliance with applicable statutes, and determines whether filings should be accepted or rejected. This position also provides guidance on filing procedures and forms, researches pending and archived records, and directs customers to appropriate federal, state, and local agencies when necessary.Additional responsibilities include maintaining electronic records in multiple database systems, assisting customers in the agency's public lobby, and collaborating with staff across divisions to ensure efficient service delivery.

Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 3-6 years of relevant experience. Hiring agency's preferred qualifications: a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years of customer service experience, preferably in a call center environment; strong typing and data entry, math, English, and computer skills; the ability to learn and apply knowledge of corporate laws and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filing requirements; and the ability to complete special projects as assigned.
